my vrs has recently developed a noisy engine rattle - reminiscent of a london bus. It happens for the 2-300 rpm just before the turbo comes on boost. Sounds terrible and expensive. Any one else experienced this? Any advice? Guess a trip to the garage is inevitable. Car is 6m old with 15K miles.

I have found that the engine cover has come loose a couple of times on mine. It is only a push fit into rubber bunged holes (plus it comes in two parts and best to put the outer section on first and then the inner section {or is it the other way around?}).

This 1) alowed more engine rattle to be heard, and 2) the cover rattled and resonated at certain revs.

Worth a quick look under the bonnet to check this?
