Security Posts (Parking)

Featured Replies

Lo all, currently doing the driveway and part of the plan is to get two colapsable / removable security posts for the end of the driveway for peace of mind. If I go for the removable one, the plan is:

Remove post, put in boot

Drive off

Arrive back home, park up, put post back in.

These are the ones Ive been looking at:

Autolok Security Posts

Fortis Security Parking Post

But the one I fancy is the autolok one at £49.99 - do you lot know of anywhere to get some cheaper?

Ta

PS. Dont mention gates as I cant be arsed with the faf on opening them, driving off, parking outside the house, shutting them, coming home, parking up, open gates, park on drive. lol

TBH, unless your area has an issue with cars going missing in the night, then I wouldnt.

Round here they're actually a magnet for thieves, as your basically daring them to try it. And they will.....

what about electric gates pembo? especially ones that open for you with one of those laser sensors ;)

I'm very tempted to just get the laser emmiter fitted to my car ;)

...er.... in preperation for my new automatic gates of course which I will fit... um.... one day ;)

I'd agree with that sentiment.

Most thieving little scrotes will probably try and get the post out and/or damage your car or property just for the hell of it if you fit one of those.

Much easier to just get a sniper rifle...........:rofl:

If the car is visible and you've anything short of a robust brick wall around the front garden, then I wouldn't bother. If they get the car started, they won't bother with the driveway, they make their own hole in whatever's in the way.

Personally, I think garaging the car's more use. Extra paranoia points can be obtained by putting a security post inside the garage, just behind the garage door.

No walls unfortunatly:(

Im rethinking the gate idea because I watched a program (Beat the Burglar - BBC) ages ago and remembered that they said that most theives are put off by closed gates due to a psycological thought process that goes on ... not sure how true this is but it certainly seems sensible.

A couple of nights ago my neighbours car got torched so I think the gates would probably act as a bit of a deterent;)

I would love to garage the car, but dont have a garage:(

Gates are defo good idea if you can do them. A friend of mine has them and they do allow people to get past still.

Do you have room for a concrete prefab garage?? Not too pricey??

Cheers

Dont really have much room out front for a garage of anysort. It would probably not get the planning permission either :(

I think the gates would be the only option plus they do sort of make a driveway complete:)

depends on your council but when we had ours done a prefab garage was classed as a temporary building so doesn't need planning.

I'd defo do the gates then. The higher and more lethal on the tops the better!!!!

Cheers
