OBD tuning interface + good exhaust specialist in Herts area

Featured Replies

Hi

First post here, but 5 years of Skoda ownership, first Octavia 1.9TDI110, the Superb 2.5TDI163.

I posted a lot on TDIClub Forum as Octavian. I mantain and (fine) tune both cars mostly myself, among other things did a 5-spd to 6-spd gearbox swap on the Octavia (and it was well worth it)

Anyway, I like the site layout, and the fact that it offers UK local info.

So, with this in mind, where in Herts / Beds / Cambs is a good place to make a (fancy) custom downpipe for Superb 2.5TDI V6 ?

I want to lose the precat and have a cone/mandrel bend /straight section downpipe in place of original downpipe with a precat. Preferably from compatible materials, ie no stainless steel, and preferably insulated in some way, air gap or glass fibre wrap?. Just so that heat loss is small and the main cat picks up faster/more.

In case you wonder why, mostly the car is driven across Europe/Germany, around 4k rpm, and it is obvious that the precat is a restriction on flow out of turbo (too early/sharp bend/small precat). I want to play with turbo/engine/ECU maps afterwards.

And second question: Do you know of an OBD interface that reliably flashes Superb's BDG engine software (EDC15VM--1M ECU)? KWP2k/2k+ says it can do it but then it corrupts the flash. I know only of CMDFlash, but that is expensive. Any others?

Cheers

I live in Watford and made a 400 mile round trip to have my downpipe/cat custom made ;)

Top job and sounds very nice!

The 163 BHP car doesnt flash well over the OBD port. Even the more expensive equipment often needs an offboard cable to comunicate with this ECU.

PM me if you need any details.
