Regarding MP3 please

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

My car is still in the garage it is nearly 3 weeks. They have to change the turbo, cylinders and now the starter motor is gone and they have ordered, hopefully it will be ready next week.

Another question it is a 2006 Octavia 1.9TDI 4X4. It has a 6 CD changer but I am unable to play MP3 CDs. I spoke to the skoda garage and they told me the system has to be replaced and it cost around £500. Kindly let me know if there is any other way by which I can play my MP3 CDs.

Thanks in advance.

regards

the 6CD changer does not play MP3s. You would need a new head unit (MP3 Stream), which as your dealer has pointed out, is not cheap!

You could switch to an aftermarket head unit (e.g. Alpine) for half that money, if you wanted to.

Guys , is it possible to connect a remote to the MP3 Stream HU ?

Thanks .

A remote what? If you mean an external MP3 player, then yes. Do you have the "jumbo box" (central armrest)? If you do, there may be an MP3 socket inside there.

If not, you could actually add your own interface to the AUX in connections on the back of the unit. Maplins, for example, sell panel-mount 3.5mm jack sockets - perhaps you could put it in the glove box.

Hi, sorry for not mentioning , i was talking about the car stereo remote control . I am having a elegance version that does not 've the steering mounted stereo remote control to adjust the volume etc , so i 've to do it manually by rotating the k.nob . is there any way that i could add/attach a remote control to the MP3 Stream HU to control the volume etc. when i am sitting at the rear seat? and yes i do 've the AUX in socket in the jumbo box ...

Thanks .

As mentioned, newer Octy IIs have the MP3 stream - older ones don't. See Å koda Accessories

The Aux in connection is also an addition on later models. Maybe someone can confirm which model year these came in.

If you have an Ipod, you could consider an Ipod interface unit - Å koda Accessories

I have a Rio Karma MP3 player, and have recently purchased a Connects2 Aux in device but its not fitted yet - see http://www.briskoda.net/forums/ice-security-insurance/rio-karma-mp3-player-car-adaptor/88253/?highlight=connects2

If you like the sound of this drop a PM to PAArsko - he has one for sale.

Hope you get sorted.

Hmm, I dont think this is possible without changing to the multi-function steering wheel. No doubt someone with a bit more knowledge will be along soon to confirm...

Sorry...posted in wrong thread

Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply.

Which model alpine?

Will the display in the dash be the same or it will be from the new CD player.

Thanks
