New clutch advice

Featured Replies

On top of cam belt, water pump, fan controller replacement, my clutch is now slipping!

It slips even when cruising in top and then accelerating.

Question is, is there anything else other than a new clutch that could solve this?

Also: if I do need a new clutch is there anything I might need to be aware of when having one fitted, or anything else that should be looked at at the same time?

This is all eating into my new car budget!

Car is '02 Octavia 1.8T, 70,000 miles

Mine's 02 1.8t & also on 70K (but a 4x4 estate), with slipping clutch.

I tow a boat & some of the slipways can be quite steep, so I'm not too suprised that the clutch is on it's way out.

The Question is ,,,,, is there a heavy duty/uprated clutch available?

Part numbers, suppliers anybody?

The was clutch repaired a few weeks ago. The plates that came out were not worn, but shiny from being cooked.

I don't have the Octavia at the moment as someone re-shaped the back end with an Escort. I was picking up my new (to me) Superb at the time. That nice shiny new paint on the tailgate that Skoda paid for two months ago is now in the skip.

SWMBO now has a Honda Civic iCTDi for 2 weeks. What a funky dashboard!
