Evening all,

Looking for a new car, fancy an Octavia. Found this place to get some background info. Petrol (vRs) or Diesel (TDi)... are the extra costs worth it?!?

Hello & welcome!!

I have a Fabia vRS but if I had a choice, I'd go for the TDi Octavia.

Hope the site brings you lots of information.

Ben :)

Hello and Welcome too

Yup, I agree.

I have an 06 plate 2.0 TDi 140, done 30,000 only had 1 service NO tyres, 44 to 50 mpg

and for around 500 quid or less for a dragon box you can chip it to 180 bhp approx

Lovin it

Welcome

Cheers gents.

Chance to look around now I'm at work and the misses isn't watching! Hopefully changing jobs soon to more money but more travel (80+ miles a day). I'm driving a Golf TDi at the mo getting 550/600 Miles for 50 L of the good stuff. Chipped it giving me good mpg and extra 'umph' so know that chips aren't just full of grease!

Got a feeling I'd be skint if I changed to Petrol but still tempted... Here starts the research! What sort of mpg are Petrol vRS owners looking at (before fuel drinking mods!)?
