Smartphone anti virus?

Featured Replies

I've just bought a Nokia N73 on pay-and-go and it has come with a 1 month free trial of F-Secure anti-virus.

So I now have one month to decide what to do when it expires.

Are there any free AVG/Avast type anti-virus applications for Symbian smart phones?

Do people like Norton make Smart phone products?

Is it really worth it given that I dont use it for mobile internet?

Im sure Avast! do one

Is it worth it? Not likely. I've never heard of anyone catching anything on a mobile phone. The worst I have heard of is active attacks when people leave their bluetooth on, but anti-virus isn't going to stop that.

Just my two-penneth.

There have been one or 2 that phone/text premium numbers without any evidence to the user.

Several East European N80 users were the first hit, but proved that S60v3 didnt totally remove any risks.

Sure you get asked to install, but IF you think your getting a theme app etc, how will you know 100% that you havent just authorised an app to start ringing outter Mongolia?

IIRC the chances of smartphone getting a virus is slim to none... as long as you dont go round installing random untrusted applications.

I dont bother with my N95, and ive got allsorts of crap installed on it
