Tanking it in France ?

I got stuck behind this going north on the N137 out of La Rochelle. In fact, there were four of these in a widely spaced group in a "Convoi exceptionelle". There was no police escort and the "White" (yellow in fact) van that presumably was supposed to be the back marker was conveniently positioned between nos three and four.

So having overtaken, no 4, thinking it was a singleton, you then realised there were a further three in front and that you'd inadvertently violated the convoy integrity.

The best bit was when this lot were confronted with another "Convoi exceptionelle" coming from the opposite direction - this one was a house on the back of a low loader, again no police escort. The tank carriers were doing 65-70 Kph and were stopping for nothing. Guess which one gave way and pulled onto the verge in a cloud of dust. - unfortunately not captured for posterity.

Fortunately, I lost them after Marans.
