Front fog lights on vRS

Featured Replies

Maybe it's me going mad, but noticed this morning when I got into car and turned on front fogs, that no front fog light symbol lit up on the dash..the dash was lit up ok, but no warning light to say front fogs are on. Only indication I had was the symbol on the switch lighting up. What is weird is for rear fogs the dashboard symbol lights up. Other weird stuff going on as well.

So :

ignition on....lights set to off, low beams come on (as I have all day driving lights setup), instrument panel stays unlit except for low beam symbol....never saw this low beam symbol light up before except when you actually select low beams..maybe it's because it wasn't very bright out ?

select low beam....instrument panel lights up, low beam symbol stays on..ok. normal.

select front fogs....no front fog symbol..this used come on before I think ? only indication of front fogs working is the light on the switch illuminates.

select rear fogs....symbol on dash comes on. ok. normal.

select side lights....no symbol comes on...dash lit up though.

so it sounds like to me the symbol for front fogs and side lights does not work anymore ?

anyone ?

IIRC, (its been a while since i have been in the vRS since its still dead) there isnt a "front foglight on" illumination on the dash. Im sure mine was like this anyway.

Just the switch...

I remember thinking the same as you seem to be

Thanks mate. I hope you are right. I'm probably looking for problems where these is none :)

vRS still dead ???

You only get dash indication for dipped headlights, main beam and REAR fog lights.

The side lights have no dash indication when on and the front fog light symbol on the light switch glows brighter when they are on which is nice considering the steering wheel blocks your view of it.

Your car appears to be working normally.

vRS still dead ???

No worries.

I remember thinking similar to you when i got my vRS, and there was no fog light on light on the dash. Thought it was bust til i noticed the switch was lit instead.

Yep, vRS still engine-less and worse. Ho Hum. :thumbdwn:

Thanks lads. I should have known.

I'm sure I've symbols for front and back fogs. I had them on this morning for the first time.

Not an 07 Vrs. I have confirmed with 2 people now, and saw a vRS in work this morning that didn't have it.

Just checked the manual and the only lights icons on the dash are dip, full and rear fogs.

I was also confused by this, but from another angle.

I switched on the front fogs for the first time as I was looking at the light switch and saw the switch mounted icon light up. Then I switched on the rear fogs and thought something was wrong as the corresponding switch mounted icon didn't light up. Then I realised the dash rear fog indicator was on. It's not exactly consistent design.

its how it works on mine.

I stand corrected. There is a rear fog light indicator on the dash only. There are indicators for front and rear fogs next to the light switch but they'd be easier to see if they were under the seats.

I would imagine the front fog light indicator is much more visible in a left hooker. If only they had modded the switch for right hand drive cars.

Foggies can't be switched on with the lights in auto either.
