A329 between Stadhampton and Little Milton 50mph Limit

The above road will be highly speed checked tomorrow with media on hand, you will be made an example of and if only a few mph over limit will have the chance to go on a speed awareness course instead.

This will be between 8.30-10.30am so if you are lucky enough at that time of day to actually reach the speed limit then well done, but be warned. This has come to me from very reliable resources

'Course, if you're interested in a speed awareness course...

You mean I might be on telly?

Yeap, they did a similar one in August where they caught a bus driver in Abingdon doing 35 in a 30 (going down a hill) with passengers on board.

Yay, obviously they have 100% detection rate for all the violent crime in their area and thus can spare the time to set of pointless media circus'

Speed check results – A329 between Stadhampton and Little Milton

Motorists have been caught speeding on a busy highway in a road safety event run by Thames Valley Police and Oxfordshire County Council.

Police and Road Safety Officers carried out speed checks for two hours this morning (3/10) on the A329 between the villages of Stadhampton and Little Milton, near Oxford.

Between 8.30am and 10.30am, 14 motorists were pulled over for driving at excess speed along the 50mph road. All were issued with a fixed penalty ticket of £60 and three penalty points.

However, 12 motorists caught driving at speeds below 62 mph were offered the chance to speak with County Council Road Safety Officers and, after taking advice, were allowed to hand their ticket back.

PC Mark Pilling, from Abingdon Road Policing Department, said: “I had visited the site before today’s event and it was clear to me that there is an issue with speed.

“In the past six years between Stadhampton and the M40 junction there have been three fatalities, 23 injury collisions and a number of non-injury accidents. Nine of those were classified as serious injury collisions.

“Although we caught 14 people speeding, I believe people were driving more slowly than normal because motorists were flashing their lights at oncoming traffic after they had driven past.

“You have to remember that when motorists see Road Safety Officers they reduce their speed, so on a normal day speeds may be even higher.

“Hopefully, this will make a difference to the way people drive between Stadhampton and the M40 junction and improve the safety of villagers and motorists.”
