Hi

Got a Power steering warning light come on the dash(the light with ! mark)on the OH's Fabia(ATD,PD 100,2001).

I've scanned it but no fault codes have shown up bar this ABS fault, any ideas on what both faults are and how I can solve them?

Thanks for any help.

Simon

Isn't the steering light an amber steering wheel? The ! mark in red is usually a brake warning and from your scan it seems as though the ABS controller is on its' way out. will the fault clear? You may want to edit the VIN and immobiliser serial number from 01 and 17.

Cheers for the tip.missed that!

i've cleared and rescanned after driving, and that scan is the 2nd one today.

Would that be telling me that pads are low?

The ABS controller is that a expensive job?

Cheers Simon

You scanned a 5J (MKII) Fabia however I'm guessing yours is a 6Y MKI Fabia. Don't imagine it matters so much in this case but might be worth noting for next time.

Oops,not doing very well today!

Scanned it again and the same faults appeared.

I looked in the user manual and the steering wheel with ! mark (situated in the rev counter) says Power steering, funny nothing comes up in the scan?

Most hast been said yet, but you should be able to get a new ABS control module (not the whole unit) for ~440 EUR (excl. VAT), that's ~300 GBP I guess...

Alternatively check for used control modules, 6Q0907379A, 6Q0907379D and 6Q0907379H should fit.

  • 1 year later...

Sorry to hi-jack another thread - I have a 53 reg Octy VRS with 45,0000 miles, about a month a go I went to pull out onto a roundabout and the the coughed and felt like it was going to stall.. then recovered and was fine, within the hour the engine warning light came on.

Took it to a local garage, who said the fault code was for a temp sensor - but as the guage & fan etc all seemed to be working fine he just reset the light, all was good - then 2 weeks to the day the light came back on - I took it back to the garage yesterday, and he's now telling me it's warning about 4 things.. so again has reset the light, and told me next time it comes on to take it straight back (picked the car up this morning and the light was back on within a mile.. so will have to take it back after work)

Anyone else had this same problem? - I don't really wan't to start having to replace random sensors and waiting two weeks.. but is there any other way?

Thanks in advance

Graham

There have been plenty of cases of rough running cars. VCDS is capable of displaying nearly 12000 codes across all the control units, so without the codes that your car is showing it would be impossible to tell you what the problem is and will be the only way to avoid replacing random bits and pieces.
