Ive added a set of magnetic fuel boosters onto the fuel pipe

as they claim to give a 15% increase in performance & seem to be giving a better than 15% increase.

The blurb on the box says it wont invalidate my warranty and just wanted to confirm this.

I could easily take em off when the car goes in for a service

The 2 units are held on with cable ties & arnt fastened permanently, & come off in seconds anyway

Cant see a problem with warranty.

However, if it was as simple as fitting magnets to the pipes to increase performance/economy then your car would come with them already!

I dont think it will invalidate your warranty unless you cut the fuel lines.

I have often wondered if these things work, being an open minded sort of guy.

When I worked in a garage and a car came in with one of these on we used to laugh.

Mind you when I had the central heating installed they put one on my water pipe to get rid of limescale.

And some people swear by wearing magnets on their wrists to cure backache or something.

I wonder if they do them for the gentlemen to wear in the trouser depatment to aid performance?..............ahem not that I need one or anyfink!

I used to have a unit in an old transit van years ago but paid £300 & it did make a big difference to the monthly fuel bill for the biz

I was looking to put some on the roomster but the most common units are £60 each with Eco flow and you really need 2 about 8 cm apart to get your 15% saving & power boost.

Luckily we came across a package that included 2 units for £25 as one of the firms that delivers to one of our businesses had put them on all their vans & trucks & 15% is quite a saving.

The info states that the RAF are using them.

From the 2 weeks Ive been running with them in the car the onboard computer seemed to be showing a 16% increase on normal & on long runs its just over 20% if ive got the figures right.

I was so impressed that we are trying to do a deal with the suppliers to have them on our website as we are into eco friendly products etc

Oh dear.

Let me tell you the story

I used to work for Fram Filters in the lab attached to the factory and we did the QC for production, but every now and again we got to do some really cool R&D stuff and also diesect and test other products.

One of these products we tested was one of these "Magnetic Fuel boosters" claimed to reduce emmisions, increase power and reduce fuel consumption, it's suppsoed to work by polarising and aligining the fuel molecules improving the fuels combustability . We used a Citroen BX TD with about 90k on the clock and a Mondeo TD with 300 miles on the clock making sure we had new and old to compare. We did some of the tests in controlled lab conditions (Power outputs noise output etc) and physical consupmtion of fuel was done over a set course around the factory taking (Big site, we could get 1.1 miles by going round it) into account the conditions of course. The only emissions check we could do was to do 200 miles in it and then get a local MOT testing station to test the smoke (Which we did 5 times to ensure a consistant result) as we didn't have the equipment.

The conclusion;

They do nothing, really nothing. No noticable effects. Zip. Nada. I spent a whole 2 weeks playing with the little sods driving about 1000 miles in both cars, and to be honest I was gutted when I did the report, I really wanted them to work but alas it was not to be.

BTW, my old man has only recently finished with DARA, and pretty much confirmed the RAF are amost certainly not using them! If your Roomy is new you will find that the MPG will get better after a few miles and over the last few weeks the temp has dropped which always helps...

As mentioned it won't effect your warranty unless you have somehow damaged the lines.
