What to do for 76,000 mile service ?

Featured Replies

Question is in the subject really, service is due now, last service the sparks where changed, before that timing belt etc were all changed.

So am I just looking at a basic oil and filters change ?

BTW, it's a 2001 1.6

Cheers.

How long was it since the last service? The regime is a full inspection service every year or 20,000 miles, and an oil change every 10,000 miles if required. The 'biggie' (cambelt) won't need doing, although I think the air filter will, and maybe coolant (because you're basically on your 2nd 40,000-mile service)

It's only been about 10,000 miles/6 or 7 months ago so not too long ago. Cheers, I'll havethe air filter changed although I think my mechanic does that every service anyway and have him check the coolant and all the bits and bobs.

Just a note on the air filters, the cabin air ('pollen') filter is changed every 10k, whereas the engine air filter only needs doing every 40k, according to the service schedule. Whether this is often enough is another matter! Sounds like you might be getting it done anyway, so I guess it's not a problem!

If you're looking for "good idea" jobs, get the gearbox oil changed.
