best anti brake dive suspension upgrade for Fabia VRS ?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Have searched the forums and it seems that Koni FSDs and Eibach springs generally has the thumbs up ,my question is will this set up also help in terms of brake dive and car squirming around under hard braking?

I have no problems really with the standard set up,yes its pretty firm over bumps but you can feel the road through through the seat of your pants :P and thats fine. Its just that with the 312 mm brake upgrade, the front end of the car and even the rear for that matter isn't as stable under braking as I would like.Just to give you the full set up I also have the Jabba rear ARB which does a fantastic job in improving the cornering ability and the tyres are pumped up to 35 front and 33 rears ( Goodyear GSD2 front/Michelin Primacy rear).

Any suspension upgrade info would be much appreciated:thumbup:

Cheers

depends what you want, for comfort/performance the no 1 choice appears to be the fsd/eibach springs, but for ultimate performance i think the kw coilovers are the best.

cheers for the info, performance is definitely the priority.. any body got any first hand accounts of ride feel ,cornering and brake handling with the KW coil overs? keep the info coming ;)

For overall everyday ride and compliancy, I'd still say Koni/Eibach. KW v1 owners may disagree though!

What sort of budget are you looking at? Eibachs on their own make quite a noticeable difference in reducing dive. The ride can be crashy at times though, and the standard dampers will wear out a bit more quickly.

to stop the squirming under braking , the best mod is fitting the Cupra console bushes , also you get better turn in and more feelsome steering also

Hi Wardy,

I have looked at the price of the Kw 's and it is probably more than I want to spend especially as I would have them fitted so labour on top.But between 300/500 max I suppose.I must say though seeing the specs of the KW's they no doubt justify the price what with stainless steel, life time warranty etc.. so maybe 650plus

I think above all I would like a harmonious setup between the springs/dampers/car so some sort of tried and tested package makes sense to me,

So we have got eibach springs on there own, koni fsd/eibach and KW coil overs ,What about the KW sport kit is that a worth while upgrade? any first hand feed back on the merits of these various setups?

Sorry Rico did'nt see your post until now as I spent far too long on my own,

Damn... so console bushes can improve things too, right I had better check on them first stop... find out where and what a console bush is ..:o

Based on the above, get some quotes for the Eibach/Koni setup, it isn't a cheap setup either, and sits at the top of the list in price terms for 'traditional' shock/spring setups I'm afraid. The plus side is it's the best setup I've ever run! The 'you get what you pay for' addage is very true here.

Eibach Sport Kit (Eibach springs and dampers) is cheaper by a fair way, but I found it was too harsh and fidgety for me. I ran this on an Ibiza Mk4 TDi Sport 130, so identical chassis to the vRS but a little lighter.

You'll probably find the Eibach/Koni setup to be in the region of £600 fitted. Perhaps you could look to run the springs first (circa £200 fitted), then goto FSDs at a later date?

Ric's point about the Cupra bushes is also a good one, and I'd agree totally. Get them done at the same time the suspension is changed. Well worth the money and make a noticeable difference.
