Nice door speaker build!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I came accross this image online

http://www.itnews.sk/buxus_dev/images/free0806_Skoda-Fabia-GZ_naked-door_b.jpg

can;t find anything else relating to it but thought it might

A. come in useful for reference when building speaker installs. and

B. just plain interest some people.

personally, looking at it.. does anyone agree that the speaker will be no where near the grille on the door card? maybe a custom door card was in the line.. like i said.. it's a site that appears to hae nothing else to do with cars what so ever!

Speaker looks about right being as the winder handle usually pops through the very back of the grill.

I used 2 thicknesses of 18 mm MDF ,which allows a gap of 5 mm between the rear of the door card ,and the speaker front . I thought that the plastic ones looked flimsy and would have left a larger gap, and rattled more than my MDF ones!

Apparently, Fabias, Polos and Ibizas are "good" for midbass.

To do a proper job though, you need wood or MDF spacers. To be utterly en-vogue you fit the speaker to a substantial metal mounting ring too.

Sadly, though I've had one of my speakers out, I've still got the plastic spacers supplied when my JLs were fitted. :)
