Will 225 40 18 on 8 inch rims fit my vrs?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I am looking for confirmation - having searched the site I am not sure.

Looks ok - but just want to confirm

I have 51 plate Octavia vrs.

Lowered 30mm on Weitec Springs on Koni FSD shocks

Front ARB of R32

Will I have any issues fitting 225 / 40 / 18 tyres on 18 / 8 et33 alloys ?

Just want to make sure they will not stick out past the arches or rub.

Thanks

Andrew

Thanks - guess the 18 will have to replace the 17. Hmmm now which ones.......

I've got 225x40x18's on 8" wide wheels and i've no real problems with an approx 40-45mm drop :)

The tyres do tend to rub the inner arch liner when on full lock but it's no biggie

OK - Alloys have arrived just put them up against the arches for size. Will get them on over the weekend along with S3 struts , hopefully... looks a little tight but should be fine:D

But here is a pic

Fill the arches well mate, but the photo makes it look like the wheels are outside of the arches.

Errr, thats because they are.

Nice one ...Eight wheel drive????????????.....................

Sweet, love the smell of burning rubber....

how funny i've just got the same wheels on my black octy :D

not had any problems with them so far, but they've only been on a day and its been raining to much to really try them.

Where did you get them from? got my wheels from Alloywheels.com (£325 inc delivery) and my Toyo TR-1s from Camskill (£300 inc deliery) worked out a bit cheaper than getting the whole package from alloywheels.com.

Have to say they do look nice on the car :D

Also Strange, just got these for my Octy Mk1 VRS. Arrived yesterday. Just waiting for bolts as were out of stock when i ordered.

My ET is 35 on these.

Hi there,

Found them on ebay - they were 460 £ including Nangkangs

Just been to look in the garage and they have et33 stamped on one of the spokes, however the 33 is not exactly clear so not sure. Lets just hope they clear the calipers..... if they don't will have to get some 5mm spacer.

may jack it up tomorrow now - you have me thinking

If not will get it sorted over the weekend.

PS put them on the scales they came in at 22.7 KG compared to the standard VRS 17 which tip the scales at 20 kg with 205 17 50

Ok after a little panic

I went out last night and fitted the front near side, fits like it was made for my vrs.

Plenty of clearance on the calipers and the wheel is perfectly aligned with the wheel arche so not sure if they are 33 or 35 but either way fit like a dream

60mm badges are in the post so as soon as it's all on and I have cleaned the car will post a couple of pics.

Hi!

I have read that minimum ET on all Skoda Octavia mk. 1 is ET38.

Rims with ET35 will probably fit, but I don't know if it is good for the bearings...

My original L&K rims have ET42.

olit

Octavia Mk1 Offset can be between ET33 and ET42 I am told. The standard 17" are 38 but you won't normally get this offset with 18" rims.

Im not sure about the style and those Nankang tyres arent the best :S
