Rust problems yet?

Featured Replies

Can anyone with an older/early Fabia inform us where exctly any rust, if any, has started to show through yet?

I've seen an estate on an W or X I think it was, with a completly bubbled rust ridden tailgate. It appeared to be the original one too, NOT as I thought, a replacement following crash damage. Original dealer sticker and glass id markings.

I have a wee spot of rust under my fabia badge at the back where something has chipped it before I bought it, will be mentioning this at the dealer when I take it back for a check up so if I can score a free touch up pen!

I thought they had zinc galvanised bodywork, which should stop them from rusting. When I bought my last one it had some small paint chips at the edges of the back doors but there was no rust on these, despite the fact that a tiny bit of metal was exposed. Maybe the tailgate isn't galvanised? I reckon the bodywork on them is very good, anyway.

I had te complete tailgate replaced under warranty.

The whole of the metal bodywork's galvanised .

Mine is a 51 reg TDI estate, the dealer took photos of the rust and passed them onto Skoda and they said there had been a problem in the galvanising of the unit.

Mine went onthe underneath part above the numberplate.

Get to the dealers and get it sorted as if you leave it they may turn you down if it's got too bad.

Thanks Kev - very illuminating.
