How does this work?

Featured Replies

I run my Octavia ambiente 1.9Tdi with the average mpg displayed. If I click it to mpg without the average, I get a random list of numbers ranging up to about 127. Who can explain this to me? I've checked on fill-up and displayed milage and the average mpg figure is about right. ( I get about 60mpg most of the time.) I suppose I could hunt up the information, but this question should be quicker. Someone out there knows already. I'm full of questions, but getting lazy about finding my own answers. It took me nearly 2 years, a while back when I was younger, to find out why glass is transparent.

That is your instant MPG read out... :)

Flick one up or down until the little black square with a "1" in it appears on the right hand side. This one fluctuates much less (once well into a journey) and that's the actual journey average. :)

I assumed that the Zero diqaggonally crossed stands for "average" It does, so why does the non-averaged figure vary so much?

Because its instant.

If you have your foot down on the aceelerator it stands to reason that you will be using more fuel than when you coasting.
