Having been laid up, Octavia RS now has a problem

Featured Replies

OK Folks, having been laid up for summer (what summer?!), I have just started to use my 2002 Octavia RS again. But, I have found she is not right......

It seems to be surging when the turbo is boosting, almost like a fluctuation in engine power delivery, any ideas?

The old bird is standard and has never been modified so it's not something I have done (this time!).

I need to get her up to 100% as I'm off up to Mull next weekend for the Tour of Mull Rally, and a few scoops of 70'.

leaky boost pipes?

wild stab in the dark im afraid. what about getting the car in for a service?

this happens on my Mums 05 Rs.....basicaly the car hasnt been driven hard...or in ur case Parked up...i found it Drove through it....when it wz brought into the Garage for them to have a look they found nothing...could just be crap in the pipes etc.......but a cracked pipe could be it to get it on vag com.

Yes, it's weird, but I'll give it a good run and check all connections, plumbing, etc, tomorrow.

There is no engine management illuminating, as soon as it does it will be in for an ECU interrigation.

I was toying with getting back 'on the road' and selling it, but after just a short drive, I'm hooked again. It's been a great little go-kart! I've had it since it was 4 months old, with 4000 miles on the clock, today it is displaying 38000. Plenty of life left in the old bird yet.

Regards.

Try a fresh tank of Super unleaded and give it a good spanking!, should clear its throat, some fuel sysem cleaner additive might help also, get this problem with the bike when its not been used for a while!
