Value of my car?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm looking to change my car, but the trade in price I just got kinda shocked me. Its a 02 Mondeo Saloon Ghia X with 65k on the clock but only partial service history.

I just got offered £2975, which I think is kinda robbing of them. What kind of price should I be looking at as a minimum? I'm think £4k or so, a little under and I'll take it. What do you think?

Thanks

It very much depends what you are trading in against.

A better trade in is really just the same as the dealer discounting the sticker price.

You could try parkers online valuation guide but you have to take those prices as being against a full price new car. Try it against a used car or a discounted new car and you'll see your trade in drop.

New cars are are quite cheap now, dealers are cutting their margin which means 2nd hand cars are worth less so you get a poorer trade in.

Surprised by that, Rich. My 2.0 TDCI with 75k miles was valued at £4.5k! Worth valuing it on Glass' (via the Vauxhall website) and then see if it's best to trade in or private sell....

So it does sound about right for £3k. Thats a shame. Its against a second hand MX-5. Really nice car too, only the 1.6 but it likes to try and catch you out on the bends.

Been offered £3500 from a main dealer on a better car and just slightly more expensive than the car supermarket.

I only went and bought a 1.8 Sport didn't I :D with all the extras (bar hardtop)

So, I'll offer it on here for the same money, see if any can give it a good home.
