Octavia 1.8t vrs

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

My first post to forum and i hope someone can advise!

Looking at purchasing a 1.8t VRS, can anyone give any tips as to what to look for when buying. After talking to others they said to make sure that the turbo etc is okay. Any tips for identifying this ?

Also its 8995 for a 04 octavia with 39k on the clock, is this a good deal ?

Cheers guys !, also drove the superb which was very tempting !!!

Hiya.

The turbo is usually pretty long-lived. I'd be more concerned about possible rattles from the front suspension (ARB bushes area known weak point), and about the fact that the car is only 9k miles from a cambelt replacement.

hmm, thanks for that !!!!

Buying from a dealer so may suggest that he drops the price a little, any ideas of how much it would cost for the cambelt replacement ?

thanks for the advice !!!

Sounds a bit pricy

im selling my 04 38,000 for a grand less than that but obviously a deelers would be more expensive

there seems to be a lot of others that age and milage arount the 7-8k

The dealer will always be more money!

Depends what you want from the car?

There are a few very nice VRS Octy's going for sale on here (With a few mods :D )

Cambelt change is around £250 ;)

Welcome to the site and good luck with your hunting for the car you want ;)

as most have said, if you looking for a good one theres a few for sale here. but buying from a good dealer is normally worth the extra cash. make sure they give you a proper skoda warranty, so you can get it done at any skoda service centre. also haggle on the price, you should be able to get some money off and ge them to change the cambelt too!

i would go in armed with the knowledge here and tell them subject to thrashing out a deal you have the means for a deposit to leave today. that will get their interest :D

Thanks guys for all the responses, was not expecting any so quickly, i would be interested in any octys but i think that most users are based in england ?, i am from belfast myself and am looking for a decent car as my 1999 peugeot diesel is starting to fall apart !

Drove the diesel octavia and superb and they are great cars, but torn between economy and performance, wallet saying economy but i really would love something that shifts when you ask it to !

Will try and thrash out a deal and my own car as PX, hopefully we can come to a deal, depends whether i like it or not !

Great board guys ..

He he, i would love to as there are far more cars to choose from !, unfortunately work has me snowed under at the moment, anyone got any offers :)

Irish market, I think the price is about right for a dealer. If you're getting the cambelt done, get the water pump changed too. It's not on the service schedule, but it's basically part plus 15mins with the cambelt, and the same as the cambelt if it needs doing separately. It's not likely to survive to the next cambelt change.

have you checked out rallyinfo's his is for sale bangor...

's a 1.8T, first registered in June 2005, so it's still under warranty. Silver and only has 12,800 miles on the clock. Absolute mint condition. I'm asking £9,600 to give some bargaining room...am I asking too much for the car? What's the general consensus?
