02 octy vrs engine managerment light

Featured Replies

hi i was wondering if anyone could help i have a octavia vrs on a 02plate and while driving home today my engine managerment light has come on and my cruise control has stopped workin any ideas on what may be the cause thanks matt

If cruise has stopped working that could be your brake switch playing up.

Ideally you need the car scanned for fault codes with vag com or a dealer tool

Looks brake-related to me too.

thanks for the reply would that cause the engine managerment light to come on aswell? i have noticed that my breaks have started to squeel a bit and make a funny noise when reversing as if they are on a little thanks matt

Yes I belive it does, Ken can probably confirm this.

As for the noise's the reverse noise is a common one try searching for mooing brake in the octy section

Maybe worth checkig your pads all round for wear

The reason I think it's brake related is that using the brakes will switch the cruise control out. It could be as easy a fix as the brake lights being stuck on, which is just a switch adjustment.

Could your noise when reversing be described as a "mooing" sound? If so, it's a well-known fault with the vRS model, but there's an official fix involving new rear brake pads. Use the search facility for "mooing" for more information on the issue that you could possibly imagine.
