Flamer kits?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if an exhaust flamer kit is available for the 1.8t?

I saw one on an escort cosworth the other night and looked smart.

Can the flames be turned on/off or are they permanently switched on?

Are they legal too?

Fitment - any car - Drill hole for spark plug and fit to exhaust.

Flames can be ran through a switch - usually comes with kit.

Legal - No.

Question is - Why in the first place? Barry Boys springs to mind........

IP do them.

But you need a decat exhaust.

Why? hmmmn they look great, not sure if its worth the money though.

Do you have the address for IP?

Is it possible to get decat exhausts for the 1.8t?

What is the difference between a decat exhaust and stock?

Do a web search for Impossible Performance or look at the ABD TIP thread in GB.

Decat exhaust.....no cat.

H&S, Supersprint, Powerflow.

Between a decat exhaust and non decat exhaust? I thought that the standard cat exhaust is cleaner for the atmosphere, however possibly decreases power?

The only reason why I ask this is that the old Mitsi Starion turbos 2.6 had cat exhausts, i remember reading that they were decatted the power increase is quite significant. Is this true or an urban myth?

Monkeyhanger, you mean like the ones they have fitted to Bmw's in Johanasberg, South Africa? Yeah that would have helped!

Lol people, I dont see whats so bad?

Removing the cat will give you more power but probably even more torque. Also makes the car quite loud.

H&S decat system have actually been known to give flames. Ask Jon...TaviaRS.

Mine used to flame with no flamer kit :D

Decat does make a difference :D

mike,

flamer kits are funny but you will attract more unwelcome attention from Plod....

Flamer kits are so barry it hurts

Lol barry. Will probably get a decat exhaust, are they more harmful for the atmosphere though?

are they more harmful for the atmosphere though?

I am not being funny your decatted exhaust is not gonna cause the world to end!!! America are doing that job

Just to add if you are worried about emissions what you need [cue salesploy]is a lovely chrome ecotek valve with chrome piper x filter!! Just so happens that in my shed I have one [/ends salesploy]

Yes.....remember it's a legal requirement for a petrol car to have a cat.

Cat needed for MOT for the emissions test although Jon's RS passed the test without one. Also if Rozzers stop you because they think car is too noisey you'll have to fit one again.

With my luck that is likely to happen!
