Annoying rattle

Featured Replies

My 8 month old Octavia L&K 1.9TD DSG developed an annoying rattling sound when hot at around 1100 rpm.

Took it in for investigation today. Problem was caused by the plastic air scoop above the radiator vibrating at 1100 rpm. When the engine reached full working temperature the gap between them reduced enough for them to rattle against each other.

I took the engineer out to demonstrate the problem and he fixed it while I waited -- wedged some foam in the gap !!

Primitive, but it worked.

Its always nice to conquer the annoying rattles, they can drive you round the bend.

Well done.

I have an annoying rattle that I'm not sure how to fix. It's the drivers side rear door lock button. If I unlock the doors, no rattle, when the auto-lock kicks in it rattles but only on rough road surfaces!!

Right by my ear - very annoying!

Just be glad you are not driving a Honda Civic - 4 Skodas and 1 Honda rattles more than them all put together :(

I have one in my VRS, glovebox lock... when cold rattles away to itself but once the car has warmed up it seems to settle down.
