I am Gumer, I own an Octavia VRS 11 in black magic.

Best car I've ever had although I had a Mk 1 in red.

Vehicle is superb but I'm experiencing a problem with gear change into 5th gear, where the gear balks and only engages with difficulty. Presently in negotiation with local Skoda dealer where the vehicle was purchased. However, they can't find the problem.

It is only a slight problem, however need to sort it out under warranty.

Suppose I'll just have to keep pestering.

This in no way whatsoever detracts away from the vehicle itself which is excellent.

Not heard of any major problems with the gearboxes myself, I hope you get it sorted.

Hello and welcome. Sorry to hear of your problem. I had a problem similar to that on my Fabia, only worse. One occasion I could only get 4th gear for about 3 miles as I drove down country roads and our housing estate. Dealer insisted it was the clutch, however adjustment of the gear cables and reversing switch seemed to solve the problem. Maybe it is similar on your car. Hope it's fixed soon.
