fabia 1.4 MPi

Featured Replies

Hi, i've got a fabia 1.4 MPi, she's a 2001 'x', and recently she stopped starting, just 'click' and nothing happens. All the warning lights come on and go off as normal, new battery (with plenty of juice).

Have noticed that the solenoid under the starter motor is red hot, even after the temp gauge (and starter motor) have cooled down.

Is my starter motor/solenoid dead?, or is it something else ??

Check to see if you have 12v at the solenoid (small wire) when you crank the engine over. If you do then it would seem the starter has died.

check the connections on the solenoid are tight.

:)Sounds like the starter solenoid is getting stuck, but it's worth checking the engine earth strap.

I had a similar problem with mine - I blame having to get home during the July floods. Anyway, it was similar - it just clicked and nothing happened. It would start eventually - sometimes after 8 or more tries!!!!

Anyway, the dealer said the starter was faulty and replaced it - that was one problem solved...
