yay 200th post!

anyway, erm where was I, oh yeah.

I have been reading from the posts recently and i wondered,

What type of cams do the felicia engine's have?

in the 1.3spi, 1.3 mpi, 1.6mpi, 1.9d?

OHV ?

OHC ?

DOHC ?

1.3's are push rod, so side cam

1.6 is sohc single over head cam.

oh cool

thats interesting.

Also won't the be hard to service the cam/ do the timing if the cam is at the side?

Oh and does the 1.6 have buckets and shims?

...Easy to do a head gasket on though, as theres no cam to remove or any timing to set up/adjust. Also since its chain driven there is no tensioner to adjust etc so much easier than a cambelt, and they dont snap like a cambelt, just let you know when they need replacing by a very annoying rattling sound.

ahha a good point about an OHV engine, thats what i like to hear.

So there is a reason why they still make them then.

DO most moden cars have OHC and DOHC?

or is OHV more common than i think?

...Alot of big yank V8s are still OHV. Its generally not used anymore in european/Jap engines now though as it was surpassed by OHC/DOHC, simply put DOHC is the way forward as you can easily get more performance from a DOHC engine by adding more valves and technology to control the valves, this cannot easily be done with OHV.

Oh and does the 1.6 have buckets and shims?

nope, they have hydraulic lifters:D

So please tell me tom, what are hydralic lifters, and how do they work?

you'v got a 1.6 right.
