Heated seats dont work and c.locking makes noises

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Can any of you offer any advice please?

The driver side heated seat doesn't work at all. The car was bought knowing this but I would like to get it sorted (without having to remortgage the house!). Any ideas on how to fix or the costs involved in fixing it?

Also, the central locking system keeps making noises. Ie, when I go to open the door from inside, and even thought the doors are unlocked, the central locking makes a noise as if I have just pressed then unlock button on my fob.

One more thing! The fob can be temperamental - it sometimes doesn't open - have to keep pressing it. I don't have another fob to try and dont even have the code to be able to get another fob made (or do you know how to do this without the unique code?).

Sorry, and thanks!

It's a fairly simple system AFAIK, so first check the fuse, them the switch, and finally the connections. Other than that, the only other thing I can think of is the element, although I'd be surprised if it was that...

It's possible to activate an anti-carjack feature, and it sounds like it might be that

Does the little LED on the fob light up? This should tell you if the fob's not transmitting when the button's pressed. Obvious starting point is replacing the battery, or maybe the switches have been damaged. I fixed the switches on my old Citroen's fob after they were crushed down, but if you're unsure at all, don't do it. As for a replacement key, I always assumed the places that sold them could clone your key without needing any info from you...?

Sorry, and thanks!

Thanks for the tips ap0gee.

I've just had a thought....what about swapping the driver and passenger seats over if it is the elements? Is that possible or do they have to specifically remain on the side that they are on due to seat adjustment controls?

When I bought my Fabia I noticed that the driver's seat didn't heat as much as the passengers. I got them to have it fixed before I picked it up and apparently it just required new back and base heating elements. I think someone did a DIY guide for this (Bryand?). Also remember if you remove the seats it's advised that you replace the mounting bolts.

I assume switching passenger and driver seats is a no-no because they are "handed" wrt the seat adjusters and the seat belt buckle?

How much did that set you back?

apparently it just required new back and base heating elements.

I stand corrected!

Fortunately it was done under warranty (the car had 3 days remaining when I bought it ) One of the techs may be able to tell you cost of parts needed and book time for the job to give you an idea of cost :D
