I raised the problem of a metallic 'tinkling' wind noise from what I thought was the area of the driver's door mirror. Several of you said you had the same problem. Well, after a lot of experimenting with duck tape (!) I've found a cure.

I apologise for the lack of photos, but if you want to chat with me a Brunters I'll happily show you on the car. The noise wasn't from the mirror area at all, but the base of the driver's window where it intersects with the B pillar. The horizontal rubber channels for the glass (interior and exterior) are too short. Instead of butting up against the B pillar there is a 5mm gap. The air must swirl around these gaps in some way - hence the noise. I filled the interior gap with a small piece of foam and sealed over with black PVC tape. The outside gap I covered with PVC tape. You have to be a bit careful not to tape onto the window otherwise the tape gets pulled off when the window goes down!

The result is bliss! Enjoy.
