New Poster, New Furby 1.9TDI and best polish !!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

First post from a forum newbie, so be gentle with me :)

Just taken delivery of a new Furby 2 1.9TDI in correro red. Unfortunately I had to go abroad shortly after I collected it so have only completed 125 miles so far. It seems fine and I am very pleased. My other car, which now lives abroad, is a VW Golf Mk4 1.9 TDI which I have loved for over 8 years.

I have a question about car polish. I'd like to keep the bodywork in good condition and have seen adverts on Ebay for 'Carnauba' polish. What is the general feeling about this kind of polish? Failing that, what do you guys rate as a top quality polish to keep my shine the same as day one? I have lurked on this forum for quite a long time before choosing a Furby and choosing red, based on the comments that red cars don't fade nearly as much as they used to.

Any comments most welcome.

Hello and welcome to Briskoda.

I used to own a Corrida Red Octy Mk I vRS estate and really liked the colour.

I answered a similar question to yours yesterday - have a look at this thread....

Since joining this forum, I have realised there is a lot more to looking after a car than I thought. Have a look at the styling and car care sections on here, and also read the guides on Polished Bliss - I have linked to the two bucket washing method in the other thread.

Finally, you should also take a bit of time to read up on the difference between polishing and waxing. The latter is probably more appropriate for a new car.

As with lots of things on here, you will find lots of ways to spend your hard-earned, but IMHO it is well worth putting some time and effort into looking after your investment.

Thanks for the reply Andy. Sorry to quote the colour incorrectly, it should of course been Corrida red. I'm in Spain at the moment and my only excuse is that correos is Spanish for the postal service

I hadn't noticed the thread you pointed me to as I had been concentrating on the Fabia 2007 section.

Many thanks,

V.
