Fuse box

Featured Replies

Hi guys has anyone come accross the problem of alternator light coming on. If it doesn't rev counter fuel gauge etc don't work. If it come on all works. My local garage has traced the fault to a damp fuse box. Next question is has anyone got one. I rang my local Skoda garage and was told no we don't stock anything for those as they are to OLD.

Indded they are now too old, they should be able to order one from the Czech republic though. And I would think the source of the leak is the windscreen.

Why Thankyou for that. Graham Roberts is at the moment emailing the Czech to order one. To be fair it does go off now and then but will it do any harm if it doesn't

if you are suffering from dampness in the fuse-box, then

open the flip down,

put some cling film over the fuses/relays

do it back up again.

So far its helped my fusebox, (it was once filled with water causing the lights to go all wafty)

whats the alternator light? - wheres that then?

Presume OP means the charge light on the dash that goes out when the engine is running to let you know the battery is charging.

WD40 may also help the fusebox.

Does everyone get better service from Jorily than me? I wonder if his e-mails aren't reaching me or something or he's really busy. :)

Edit: I wish to add in the interest of fairness, that Jorily's service has been great! Prices have been good compared with dealers, and the last time I bought something on Ebay it came much quicker than the time frame quoted. The comment above referred to lack of response to an e-mail, and I can only assume a problem ocurred with sending or receiving the e-mail. To avoid any potential e-mail issues it is probably best I call in future!

I hope Graham can appreciate the comment above was not made with malicious intent. I, and many others (see Skoda forum), genuinely value your business which sells us the parts that Skoda dealers don't want to know about anymore. I look forward to your website's completion, and I will definitely buy in future

Surely the a new fuse box would get just as damp as the original unless the cause of the water ingress is found and sorted.

And, can you not simply 'unplug' the fuse box, and dry it out in an airing cupboard, or use a hairdryer? (in situ ?)

I've had pretty cr@p service from jorily, i tried to order a key set off him, he said he'd order some from Poland, after a few more emails passed between us over 3 months i gave up and bought elsewhere.

replacing a fuseboard takes about 15 minutes. off to the scrappy with you now :)

If it's anything like the fav fusebox, 2 small flathead jewel screw drivers helped lever the clips off the bottom. If it's a serve yourself scrappie I'd take a pair of scissors and chop through the cables if they won't shift.

Why is he Emailing the CZ for one?

Why CZ i don't know i thought if it was VW based then a vw fuse box might fit. However i have done the wd40 trick along with cling film and all would appear to be well. Jorily is in the process of moving house so things may well be a bit topsy tervy till he is established. Thanks again guys for all your help and advice

tiss not vw based. it was designed before vw take over

Sorry, you must be getting confused with someone else, I don't buy from Poland and no one has asked me to order them a key set.

The service I offer at Jorily is always the best. If you have e-mailed me it may be because I didn't get it. You can always ring me.

I noticed one or two people made adverse comments about Jorily and the service Graham gives. Graham sets a high standard of work much better than Butts. Who by the way say if you have an old Skoda we don't want to know. I have nothing but high regard for what Graham is trying to do. Remeber this YOU CAN'T PLEASE SOME OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME BUT ALL OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME

Who by the way say if you have an old Skoda we don't want to know.

Skoda dealers are tailing off support for the favorit. Some parts can no longer be purchased from the dealers. Only saving grace for the Favorit is the odd part or two is shared with the felicia which Skoda still sells parts for. So basically I mean like your experience with the dealers and unavailable parts :)

I don't think anyone responded - its the battery light on the dash board. It can indicate under/over charging etc as well.:)

oh awesome thanks!

maybe they just dont like you? ;) i'm not a huge fan or patron of them but when i need to call them in an emergency they aren't that bad. last favorit panel i got from them arrived in about a week and was a highly competitive price.

That's not impossible; I've had excellent service from the dealers I've used, but I know other people who have had anything but from the same people.

:) I've bought several Skoda parts from Graham's Jorrily ebay shop and have not experienced a single problem. I have nothing but praise for Graham, his service and the parts he has supplied.

[which reminds me...I need to send him a czech for the Estelle odometer cogs he kindly sourced for me! :D]

A czech, love it. Lol.

Isn't it strange how this thread started off talking about a FELICIA fuse box/board and ended up a Favorit. Still its good to have some banter and we do need to support people like Jorily and Graham if we want to keep our old dears running for years to come. Don't tell the wife i said that she will think i am going soft in my old age. Last but not least Hello to Dave McKinney, have you worked the puzzle out yet.

The Felicia was based on the favorit so they share many parallels. Rusting cups, leaky windscreens (onto fusebox) etc. The felicia is next on Skoda UK's hitlist of cars to not support anymore, with the start of 2011 marking the tenth anniversary of the last ever produced one (excluding pick-up). Not much more than 3 years away. I wonder if Skoda will be in a rush to get shot of the pre-VW design cars.

Strange, i've got 3 emails from you (grum1969) about this key set sitting in my inbox

edit: oops Czech Republic not Poland
