Hi guys iam new here after finding this useful site

I have been reading that some people are using something called VAG COM.Sorry for my dullness but can someone tell me what this is? Is it a self diagnosis software you use on your Octy?

I would be pleased if someone could fill me in on this.

You could allways have a look in the Diagnostics and VAG COM section.

But you are correct and it works on most VAG motors depending on what interface you have.

check out the Ross-Tech website, they are the manufacturer's.

You will be able to use third party cables with older version of vag-com.These are available cheaply from ebay as well as other outlets.The vag-com software is free to download and use.This cable will allow you to read and erase faults,but for the extras the genuine one would be best.
