Just Dragoned my PD100

Featured Replies

can anyone with a dragon box please confirm which jumper is which?

I am assuming that looking at the box with the jumpers at the BOTTOM

Far left is economy and far right is power?

The economy/power map is determined by the USB key in the device. The jumper settings just make it more aggressive and go from left (normal) to right (most aggressive) iirc....

USB Key?!

USB Key?!

If you've got one of the latest units it has a USB memory stick in it which contains a "performance profile" AKA map. It's either "power", "economy" or "power and economy".

Only the very latest boxes have a USB key - I believe for storing different fuel maps.

The boxes on sale from Dragons ebay shop are the older 7 pin models w/o usb backup - (not to be confused with the even older 13 pin).

Logically anyone would presume that the pins are numbered left to right. This is what I am now convinced I have proven through experimentation. I've just looked at the instructions again though and these clearly show the pins in the following configuration: +3 +2 +1 T -1 -2 -3. Where position T "gives settings as made in configuration setting". I should point out however that the illustration also shows a further 2 pins to the left of the 7 (and left of the LEDs) which are for program selection. My box does not have these.

It does seem very odd/dubious that a system supposedly manufactured in the UK should come with such poor instructions which definitly read as though translated from another language.

If you're still unsure about justifying the expense, do like me and convince yourself it's only really costing £50 'cos you'll get so much back when you re-sell .

Hey teedeeye, thanks a lot for the the info, well appreciated. I think this will do me just fine compared to a remap. I'm already convinced and I should be getting one.

How hard are they to fit?

They're very easy to fit (even I managed to fit one ), but remember that the latest and greatest ones will be more in demand come resale time so chose the one you buy wisely :D

I'm pretty sure that if you take the cover off and look at the pins so they are at the BOTTOM of the unit with the LEDS to the LEFT.

Then it goes

Economy > Power

1 2 3 4 5 6 7

I started it on 5 and moved it to 6 and it did feel slightly quicker.

Presently both systems are on offer from the Dragon website. I doubt that the basic 7 pin model will become obsolete any time soon.

Interesting, the only two I see on their website have USB key maps on them Dragon Performance UK Ltd :: Skoda :: Skoda Fabia :: Fabia 1.9 TDI 100 ?

Chris

You're right, I mis-read the ad :P! However, I still recon that resale prices of any digital Dragon system will hold strong for some time to come. It may be that Dragon are clearing their old stocks on ebay at present, but I wonder how long before the multimap systems appear for <£200?

Speaking for myself, I know that if I'd come across someone offering an older (obsolete) 13 pin box on ebay for say £120 last week, I may well have gone for that. But then I am a tight-fisted old *********! Probably why I drive an old Skoda diesel .
