Why are these bars in the boot, there is one on either side right behind the rear seats and they get in the way when putting the seats down, can i take them out? will the car fall to bits if i do? will they go back in? Why are we Here???????

As far as I am aware these bars are for strength,sort of a strut brace, and unfortunately are not removable but I know what you mean mate.

to stop body twist and to stiffen the suspension turret

This is the reason you cant put 17s on the vRS estate because it does not have them. They are to strenghen the turrets.

And the 4X4 Estate with its unique rear suspension doesn't need them anyway!
