Felicia Crash Test

Featured Replies

Hey there guys.

Was at a friends house a few days ago and he was looking on the Euro Ncap webiste at the new Fabia and its crash test results as he is getting one soon.

And we looked for a Felicia one but couldn't find it anywhere on the site, even though there was one for an old Metro (which was appauling, total crumpled and trashed).

Has the felicia ever been crash tetsted? Or if not, does anybody know how i/the car would fair in a proper crash?

Thanks

...As far as I know it wasnt NCAP tested, well, not up to the year 2000 anyway. The SLXI models had twin airbags and side impact bars, not too sure if they had decent crumple zones or any other safety innovations.

I wouldnt like to crash test any car, but if I had to the only cars i would happily crash test are Volvos or Saabs :)

if i crash i want to be in a smart car!!!!!!!!!

trust me, having seen how they fair after hitting a concrete block at 70mph i would rather be in the smart than the Volvo!

Yep, I saw that episode of 5th gear too  Trully an impressivly strong car. I seem to remember the doors still opened and the entire occupants cell was still intact and the engine had completly disintegrated!

yep thats the one.

you'd still be dead from the force, but man would you make a mess of the other car.

I remember watching this so thought I'd post it as a curiosity. It features the crash test of a Rapid, a Favorit, and the Euro NCAP 5 rated roomster.

It would probably fair just a little better than the Favorit is my guess.

If you watch through this YouTube - ?koda Favorit- Felicia history. when it gets to the felicia at about 4.15, there's a picture of one that's been crash tested.

Thanks Anewman, those youtube clips were really interesting find. - Showed just how competant the Rapid and Favorit were in thier day.

I seriously like the look of the 3 door beige Favorit pictured at 3.20, but I'm guessing it was either a prototype or never sold in the UK.

There's a Swedish insurance company that compiles statistics from outcomes of real accidents. According to their website the Felicia scores below the average car but not more than 15 percent below average. What's interesting is that the Fabia comes into the same category! OK, it could be that the Fabia scores 2 percent below average and the Felicia 13 percent...

I guess that the important factor is not so much the equipment (airbags &c) but the fact that if a Cherokee with bumber guards hits you then you're in dire straits indeed - no matter whether you're driving a Felly or a Furby.

The Octy Mk1 on the other hand scores at least 15 percent above average.

OMG!!! That estelle was shocking... was it made of cardboard!!??

jus thought it would have been interesting to see the felicia in a crash test.

No matter what car you're in... a crash at 40mph+ is gonna be nasty!!!

The Swedish company - was it Folksam or some such? I had a link to their site for sensible crash test data, but the last time I tried it, the data wasn't there any more.

remember on the rear engined cars they have all that space to decelerate and no engine to crush your legs.

I think it got a 2/3 out of 5

But the Felicia is a safe car.

Volkswagen Polo 1.0 L 3dr ('97/P-'99/S)

Price from £650

The Polo achieves a three-star NCAP crash rating, despite the absence of a standard driver's airbag.

The Felicia is based on the Polo so I'm assuming it gets the same rating

:)The Felicia is definately not based on the Polo, it's based on the Favorit.

Dont forget the body structure of the rapid/estelle dates back to the 70s, so compare it to other cars of that price/size/spec etc and its not going to be far off. Obviously, its not a volvo or saab, but they were solid cars.

Noooooooooooooo, please dont get me started on this! (again) I think the felicia is perhaps worth a 1/2 or 1 star rating if that.

It's actually based on the Skoda Favorit :D and shares quite a lot of the same parts as the Favorit.

I'm guessing the first Skoda car based on a VW after being owned by VW would be the Octavia but I don't know much about the Octavia.

Oh well beaten to it by daverapid and Skoda-Msport :D

...Youre right about the Octavia mate. It was the first pure VW platform based Skoda, theres nothing skoda in it at all. Although, I think they let the czech designers loose on the external design and interior etc (after they had been vetted by germans in a german techical school of excellence of course).

Then though, you had the Fabia, again, nearly a pure VW plaform, and when fitted with a VW box/engine it was pure VW, but with the skoda 136 lump bored to 1397cc and slightly different modifications/evolution of the engine design it still had a bit of skoda in it :) ...although by that time the 1400 block was a bit sluggish in a Fabia due to the 1150kg the fabia weighed, alot more than the 800-900kg fav or felly.

skoda skoda skoda, no polo!!!!!!!!

skoda skoda skoda, no polo!!!!!!!!

Yes, Indeed, ...no need for volkswagens when there is a cheaper Skoda badged alternative somewhere around the corner.

How much does a Felly weigh?

My Felly 1.6 Estate from the documents:

"service weight" 1080 kilograms or 1,06 UK tonnes (including driver and full tank of petrol)

Max load 410 kilograms (0,4 UK ton)

Max total 1490 kilograms (1,46 UK tonnes)

you can get the old fav down to 700kg
