Wonder Wheels at Costco - 5 Ltrs -

Featured Replies

Been to Costco (Derby) and picked up 5 litres of the stuff for £7+VAT. Not bad seeing as Tesco's sell 500ml for £5!

Hope this is of help to somebody

They are also cheap on their fully-synthetic oils such as Mobil 1.

Oh, and the iced Danish cakes are nice as well.

My bro got me one of those giant bottles of Wonder wheels about 9 months ago, watered down and put in a spray bottle means I still have 1/3 of a bottle left, superb value

Its bad stuff as standard, very strong and Id exercise caution when using this.

i'd agree very strong stuff. eats the enamel off... well did y with my leon . :(

After reading reviews by people on here, I have started to dilute mine with water - still works great though.

Iv been told you need a card to shop in Costco. That true, and if so, how do I get one?

You need to qualify to be eligible for membership...

http://www.costco.co.uk/Membership_home/Terms_conds/terms_condition.htm and

http://www.costco.co.uk/Membership_home/Trade_memship/trade_membership.htm

for some info. May be worth ringing/e-mailing to see what other professions are eligible without being business owners and what id is required....

From what people have said, I think 5 minutes on Word should do the trick. :P

  • 2 weeks later...

why is the stuff bad then?

i used it neat on my mk 1 vrs wheels for the whole 5 years i owned it,

the wheels looked just as good the day i sold the car?

and the same on my brand new mk2 vrs as well:confused:

just make sure you wear surgical gloves when your putting it on.

Its akin to taking a sledge hammer to cracking a nut. If you have any cracks in the paint or lacquer or damage to the wheels it can make matters a lot worse. Id only use it on extremely bad wheels and simply maintain weekly with a wash solution.

Dilute it and it's fine. In the dilute form it's no worse than the stuff Autoglym and Turtlewax sell.

I've used it on my last 4 cars with no problems, some of the wheels had kerb damage and/or stone chips and it didn't make any difference. Maybe it's due to never using it neat on the wheels and not leaving it on there for more than a minute.

Probably that, aye.

its not bad at all if your sensible with it, personally i put it on neat and leave it for maybe 2 mins then wash it off again.

Wonder Wheels is great if a little corrosive:thumbup:, but that sounds like a great deal. I’ve just picked up a 4gb flash card from Costco which is ‘ready boost’ enabled for just over £17 quid, which isn’t too bad as it is a tiny card. Much smaller than the normal fair and brilliant for putting into a cars USB port.

I wouldn't worry about joining as trade, as the only real benefit is you can shop a bit later on a Thursday and I don't think I have ever even used this wonderful entitlement.

You also get in 2 hours earlier up here, Which saves battling with "The Great Unwashed":D

It's also handy if you want to buy paracetamol in bulk:confused:

That may also be the case down here, I don’t do mornings:rofl:

Costco are very good for Mulitvits and the like:thumbup:

Got 2 the other week in Costco in Edinburgh always stock up on car cleaning products when I visit excellent value for money, does annoy SWMBO a little as less room for muffins in the trolley.

It is - weekdays trade opening is 2 hours before individual membership, and you get a free coffee/pastry so well worth getting up for... :D

IIRC trade membership is cheaper too, and you can have additional card holders on a trade account.

Oh, and as Mike says, you can buy bulk packs of pharmaceuticals such as painkillers (as the restrictions on the maximum number of these products which can be sold to an individual in one go don't apply to trade)...

You can also get additional card holders on the normal account as well.

It ruined the finsih on my Europa wheels so never used it again after paying for them to be refurbished. I only use the Auto Glym stuff these days.

Yeh I use my trade membership to get my mum a card. Still don’t think a coffee in the morning is worth getting up early
