Replace my Dunlops with...?

Featured Replies

Had my Octavia VRs for a few months now and the stock Dunlops are getting toward replacement time. I found these tyres pretty poor for road noise, grip and feel. Any suggestions for something better? I do about 25K a year, mostly extra-urban and need something with pretty good endurance.

I have some Falken 512 225x45x17 in the for sale section ;)

Not sure what your after though!

Falken 452's are a very good tyre, or toyo's proxes TR 1 imo dont cost the earth either.

T1-R - If Carlsberg made a tyre, it would probably be the T1-R.:D

:o i meant T1 R

devonutopia, where abouts are you in Devon?

Oh sooooo true, mine feels like its on rails since fitting T1-Rs for the original Dunlops.

Vote for Falken FK452's. Plenty of grip and seem to last well too :D

Chris

Khumo's are reasonably priced. Chris Ellis and Superted are both running them.

Dawlish, mate. But lets keep this thread on track. :D

Chris didn't like them on his Octy and only got about 6k miles.

Quite right Stu totally rubbish in the wet.Khumo's are the way to go .£168 for 2.

Superted's Dunlops seem to be failing in the same way mine did, he's gone for a pair of those Khumo's like yours Chris.

2 more to follow for the rears they really stick like glue.;)

Michelin Pilot Sports on my MKII vRS from stock and gotta say, I can't fault em for performance. However at £130 quid a throw they should be!!!

I went into a garage and asked if they could fit toyo T1-R's and they said they were toyo was a budget tyre and they dont sell cr*p! I couldnt believe it!

Another vote for pilot sports, work really well and do last for a while ....BUT they are expensive :o

ONE BAD point though they are worse than useless in snow

Toyo T1-Rs or Goodyears.

Whatever you do, do not fit more Dunlops!

Another  for Toyo. Been good so far but not sure how well they will wear. Still at £57 a corner I won't complain as they do get some stick.
