DSG... potential problems?

Featured Replies

My Dad's having a few problems with the DSG box in his 2.0TDI VW Touran. Basically at times the DSG box seems to get stuck in 3rd or 4th gear and he has to knock it over in to manual mode to get it to change up or down.

Now the car is due in for its 2nd service (33k) on Monday and this includes the oil change/service for the DSG box... will this solve the problem, or could it be something more sinister?

It could be something more sinister, I would get them to diagnose the fault prior to doing the service on the box as if it needs something like a mechatronic unit they have to drain it down anyhow.

Thanks Lummox - thought he was being a tad optimistic thinking a simple oil change might solve it.

Car is a 2005 model - are there any known issues with DSG boxes of this age?

No problems at my Octavia 2.0 TDI, 2006, with DSG. It got 21000 km.

Did you resolve the matter?

Yes, he took it in for a service and no problems since.... VAG-COM showed no issues either
