Octavia 06 plate heated rear window

Featured Replies

Hello. Hope you can help. I am the proud owner of a Octavia 1.9TD Elegance (06 plate) and I have recently noticed that everytime I activate or deactivate the heated rear window from the centre console, there is a 'clicking' noise that emits from what appears to be around the dashboard area.

I have not noticed this before. It does not occurr when the front heater is used or any of the other electrical controls. Although the heated rear window operates correctly I am a bit concerned about this clicking noise and what it may be?

Could it be the fuse? and does it need to be checked out by a SKODA mechanic or is it normal operation?

Thanks for any help.

Is it not just the relay for the HRW?

Forgive me for not understanding, but what do you mean by the other post Lummox?

Cheers

The current load required to operate the HRW (Heated Rear Window) is larger than that which can be safely operated by the switch in the dash. Therefore the switch in the dash operates a relay which switching contacts are spec'd for the current draw of the HRW. THis also does away with the need to run thicker wiring around the dash, as it can all be run from one central location - the fuse and relay box.

The relay will click once (when it latches) when you turn the HRW switch on, and again when you turn it off and the relay returns to the NO (Normally Open) position.

Sounds like normal operation to me.
