I've finally got round to buying my first VRS after nearly a years worth of saving! Its a 05 silver with 28k on the clock. I hoping that you guys can put my mind at rest as I have a few issues that I can't seem to sort using the cars manual, but apart from these issues the car has to the best i've ever owned

When I get in and start the car after about 20-30 seconds there is a beep/bong from the stereo speakers. This is the same noise as the one you can turn off in the symphony stereo setup menu, which I have turned off. It isn't the same as the warning beep(s) that you get when you are running low on petrol etc. So my question to you guys is does anyone know what this is?

Also the fan direction controller dial next to the fan speed and temperature control is not working. All it seems to do is blow air to the windscreen no matter which option the dial is turned to, is there anything special that I need to do to get this to work? or could these two issues be related? :confused:

Does it do this with recirc on and off? If so, it might be that the flap motors are stuck and need resetting (common problem). If you can plug VAG-COM into it you should be able to read off any logged faults which may help to pinpoint the problem, and you can also reset the flap motors.

Thanks for the advice I'll try and see what happens with recirc on, if i don't have any luck i'll probably be going to my local skoda dealership this coming thursday to transfer the warranty to myself so will have them check it out and see if its stuck. Do you know what might be causing the Beep/bong from the stereo?

Does it have Xenons?

If so it could be the low washer level warning.

That may be just a beep though.

It doesn't have Xenons, but would the low washer level be indicated with a light-up symbol on the dash? I'll try topping up and see if it makes a difference.
