Engine management light - Octavia 2.0

Featured Replies

I am having trouble with the Engine Management light also.

The story: Bought the car at auction. Octavia Ambiente "Y" reg 94,000 2.0 litre. Engine Management light on. To the local garage. The fault clears "It could be the emmissions or the lambda sensor" they say. £35. One mile down the road it comes back on.

I take it the the local Skoda people in Broxburn. Same again. No charge. "If it comes Back on again bring it back." It comes back on again.

To the Skoda place in Abbeyhill, Edinburgh. No charge. "It's the Air Mass Meter." I get one myself. £63.Take it back to the original local garage. They fit it - cause you need the special tamper proof 6 pointed screwdriver with the hole in the middle - the light goes off. One Mile down the road it comes back on again

This is doing my nut. Three different garages have a look at it and none of them diagnose the problem correctly. It seems to be running welll enough but I have a long journey coming up in a couple of weeks.

Is there anyone in skoda world able to shed light on this Octavia.

There are pages and pages of information on 2.0 petrol engine management lights on here, especially relating to lambda reulation faults.

Does it use oil? Fault codes? Need more info to go on really.
