Octavia Airbag/Cable

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Been reading these forums for a while and found the advicce great, but can't see to find anythin info about airbag's and more specifically airbag cables.

The short story -

Fixed a dodgy indicator stalk by replacing but while taking off the airbag to remove the steering wheel I noticed someone had had it off before and the cable that connects the airbag to the column has broken at the airbag end(coil has unravelled alot).

Replaced the stalk and got the indicators working again but ever since the airbag light has come on and wont go off.

Now I didnt think the cable between then airbag and column was detachable at the airbag end but looking at a pic, on one of the post I have seen where someone swapped their wheel for a 3 spoke vRS wheel, it shows airbag cable seperate??

Ok so first question, can you buy/fit/remove the airbag cable seperately?

And number two, if not how much and where would people recommend getting a new airbag from?

Oh and I've got an 04 Octavia Estate, with just the standard steering wheel.

Sorry about the long post, but thats everything now!

Thanks again for all ur help!

Rutter :-)

Did you disconnect the battery before removing the airbag connection?

I did yes.

Thanks
