Colour choice

Featured Replies

Passing the buck a little I know and also not having a poll option I can find, I just wanted to ask people's opinions on Scout colours. Choices are as follows, in no particular order:

- Satin Grey (metallic baby blue?)

- Anthracite Grey (grey)

- Storm Blue (metallic navy blue?)

Not being able to see a Scout all these colours in one place is proving this a tough choice. What I want to know from owners is...

1) Do any of you regret your colour choices?

2) Does either the storm blue or anthracite look flat at all or do they have depth?

3) Is the satin grey a colour you can live with long term?

4) Do the 2 darker colours have enough contrast with the body protection mouldings to make it all hang together convincingly?

Thanks in advance for any and all comments. It probably won't help, but at least I'll have something else to ponder other than just autotrader pics.

Regards

Mark

Ah the old colour debate! I had a similar problem when choosing the colour for my vRS and ended up going with silver over race blue. I've got to say I don't regret my colour choice at all.

Personally I would go for the anthracite grey as I saw a demonstrator in that colour when test driving my vRS at the dealer. I think it really sets it off with the understated yet purposeful look and it went well with the mouldings.

Can't speak for the other two colours as I've only seen them on colour charts but the anthracite gets my vote

Here is my Anthracite Grey '07. I love the color. It's a nice easy color to keep clean and doesn't show dirt too bad.

You're right that the colour choice is very important. I've had a test drive in two Scout diesel demonstrators. One was a metallic red colour (Flamenco I think) and the other was Anthracite grey. The Anthracite seemed to suit the car better. The red body colour, for me, did not go too well with the aluminium undertrays.

I will be ordering a Scout in mid December and I think I'll go for brilliant silver mainly because it matches best the similarly coloured undertrays (makes it look less like a 'gas guzzling' 4 x 4!). Mind you I've not seen one in the flesh yet which is part of the problem with there being so few of them on the road so far. I see that in all the promotional stuff the silver colour has been chosen. Have you seen the Scout 'fold out' brochure labelled multi-tasking? That shows off the silver very well.

If going for the Scout, its got to be Satin Blue...

Yep, Satin looks fab, keeps clean like silver, and suits the Scout very well.

As for living with it, I still consider it the BEST choice of colour there is. I didn't want Silver, looks too cheap and there are too many silver cars around, didn't want dark colours as I wanted the ruggedness accentuated, plus I also like to see a 'colour' in the paint. In this case there is a terrific blue hue that glints in the light.

I've seen an ocatavia scout in red around my part of the world, have you thought of that? Otherwise the Satin Blue looks nice IMO.

I had a Silver Scout overnight last week from my local dealer, CDG (Crawley Down Group) near Gatwick. If you are close enough, might be worth you getting in to see them. Speak to Dan Moore and tell him Mark Woods sent you. BTW, this is a standard car and due for sale probably in January :)

Have a look at my storm blue courtesy scout @ http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/storm-blue-scout/86950/

It looked very smart, but I think pale colours look good - either beige or the pale green are worth looking at. The former has a bit of 'desert storm' about it!

There are pics of a polish green scout on the net.

Thanks for the responses. Colour choice was somewhat influenced by both availability in spec and patience on our part :)

Anthracite grey it is then.
