VAG COM faults listed

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had the engine management light come on today...shok/horror.

When i got home i plugged in my newly aquired VAG COM cable, then after remembering to switch on the darn ignition i had the following listed

17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean

P1136 - 35-00 - -

17705 -

P1297 - 35-10 - - Intermittent

Am i right in thinking that this is either MAF or turbo pipe related (more than likely the latter)?

Your input would be most appreciated.

Leaking breather pipe?, sucking in air on tickover.

Thanks for your super quick reply.

I'll have to check tomorrow but i have it booked into the local stealers on Sat morning for a diagnostic so they may be able to tell me more if i can't find anything.

Is there an easy way to try and find a leaking pipe? Is there any common places to look?

I think I'd save your money initially and go with fordfan's diagnosis.

Many thanks both.

Found a split in the breather pipe as you both suspected. Knew i was close when i wiggled the pipe, heard a sucking noise and the engine light came back on. Was so impressed with the trial VAG COM and ebay cable that i'm buying the full version from Ross Tech. Should be here next week. May be of help not only for me but other VAG cars on this site in my area.

Nice work mate.

Good job, you'll find that it wil pay for itself very quickly in terms of money and time saved with the dealer.
