I have a problem with my 01 Fabia - need help.

The engine management light comes on intermittently & the car shudders on acceleration until the car is warm. Accelerating does not present as a problem after that - had a dirty petrol filter in a previous car, and it's a very similar experience, but this is going on a lot longer.

Thing is, the warning light comes and goes - the car runs ok when the engine is warm. got 78000 miles on the clock.

any suggestions? Garage are helpful enough, but I'm finding it very hard to get the car in there.

I'm new here too - i'm sure this has been discussed before, but i don't have time to search. Thanks.

Does the car idle ok?

Which engine do you have in your Fabia? :D

Does the car idle ok?

Car idles ok. 1.4 petrol engine.

Hmm, i'd have thought it might have somthing to do with the idle control valve and the auto choke, seeing it runs fine when warm

Car idles ok. 1.4 petrol engine.

Which 1.4? (8 or 16v)?

16v

1. Check for air leaks. Check the plugs and leads. Get the fault codes read with VAG-COM, correct any problems found.

2.Clean the throttle body & perform an adaption with VAG-COM.
