55 Fabia vrs. Ok to drive with Engine light?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Started the car yesterday, drove about 100 yards before realising the yellow engine light was still lit - promptly turned round and went home.

The car is still under warranty so will have to go into the dealers to have a look. Its 40k service is due immenently anyway, so it might as well go in a few weeks early.

The dealers are about 20-25 miles from home. Could the warning indicate anything serious enough to suggest I shouldn't drive it in?

I've checked the oil level - it was a little low so I topped it up (a little too much, will need to drain some off now :( )

The warning light could mean any number of things - it's impossible to tell just from it being lit. Having said this, there are all sorts of clever 'limp mode' settings that the ECU can enable to make sure you don't do any damage on the way to the garage. As long as you take it easy just to be on the safe side, you ought to be fine!

If you have Skoda Assistance just get them to get it to the dealer for you. If the light is on, I'd not want to drive it and risk getting stranded even further from home :D

Good point. Although the risk of any damage is pretty small, why have a dog and bark yourself? ;)

good points rasied here, get it to the dealer asap.

Oooh I like riddles. Is it so non-English speaking dogs understand what you're saying?:D

It's so drivers of Fords crossing fords can't hear you...

:sofahide:

Presumably English-speaking dogs can communicate with non-English-speaking dogs by barking louder and waving their paws about?
