Octavia has never had a shield.

Featured Replies

Hi Good old Soviet here,

Does any one know if a Skoda Octavia Mk 1, engine AEE, year 2001, should have some sort of shield underneath the engine, as mine does not seen to have one. The dealer that sold me the car may have removed it. Should there be one? and what should it look like?

Most cars have them, and so I think that mine should also.

There should be a small plastic sheild coming off the the bottom of the bumper. I thought there should be one to cover the sump completly & was missing off my car. My local Skoda dealer told me there wasn't. They told me that they can supply a sump guard to cover the complete engine underside, but it is a metal one that gets fitted to the Octavia's used buy the Police.

Hi,

I am most grateful to you for the information. I have the small plastic shield that comes off of the bottom of the bumper. I see that Octavia's that are used by police have a sump guard. I don't think that I will bother if there wasn't one to start with.

Many Thanks

Im sure my plastic one that covered the sump etc has either been removed by Skoda when the cambelt was done or its fallen off. Either way its ok without.

the steel sump guard is a very good mod.

have had it on now about 6 months and had it a few time !

yeah ive never had one either. just the short plastic one off the front bumper.

interested in this steel sump guard though, as i tend to drive in a spirited style on crappy country roads (and occasionally through thick ice/snow covered roads) and wouldnt mind the extra protection.

How much was yours Iain, and where did you get it? If you dont mind me asking!

I have the Police spec sump guard on my car also. Its a real blessing as the cars very low now. I hit it all the time, but dont mind as i sleep well knowing that my "Soft as Cheese" alloy sump is nicely protected.

I got a pic of it somewhere and will put it up when i find it :)

Kind Regards

Garry

Hi SwedishSkoda,

Glad that you approve of avatar, as I needed something to suit my chosen name. Totally none political of course, and not to cause offense to any one.

Always nice to see the Swedish flag, also. Thank you.

Hey folks wonder if anyone can help just bought an Octavia 1.9 td and hit the sump while driving went out to the car the following day and there was a river of oil down the road could any one estimate a price for getting this fixed will i need a whole new sump or just the cover etc thanks folks

Have a look underneath and check the damage. Its possible it could be welded by a specialist if the sump is cracked, if its beyond repair its new sump time.
