New Octy vRS Specification - opinions

Featured Replies

Been to a few dealers this week, just thinking about maybe getting something a little bigger, and more fun.

Went to VW - "Sorry, we've no GTIs in stock new or used"

So on to Seat, and I took out a rather nice looking Daytona Grey Leon Cupra.

Very nice seats, very nice wheel, and the power was good (these are 240ps for those that don't know). However, was very boring and cramped (height-wise) on the inside, and had a very harsh ride.

So I went back to Skoda, and tested a petrol Octavia vRS. Didn't feel underpowered compared to the Seat, but felt a much nicer place to be, with a more compliant ride, but still handled well.

Went back after the test drive, and sat down and spec'd up a car. I'm looking to order for an 08 plate, which will mean I can't take advantage of the current offer, and they've got nothing to my spec in stock anyway.

My ideal spec would be:

Petrol vRS

Race Blue Metallic

MFD3 Sat Nav

Cruise Control

Rear Parking Sensors

Sunroof

18" Wheels

Jumbo Box with rear electric windows and dual zone climate

Maxi-Dot

Xenons

It's quite a large spec list, but the car's a fair whack of money anyway, so it doesn't really hurt kitting it up, and I won't be left wanting!

Any opinions on these? Something I should/n't have?

exactly what i've ordered (except sunroof thats what aircon is for)for my next car so you need all of it except sunroof

ah... see the only thing I regret not ordering on my Fabia is the sunroof! I like the light coming in

Have to agree - having a sunroof is great way to brighten up the rather sombre cabin.

Nice spec btw

you dont get a huge amount of light from the sunroof as its not a very big piece of glass. it does brightent the cabin slightly though but its not something id pay £650 for

Don't know I'd bother spending all that dosh on SatNav; I'd upgrade the music setup with an aftermarket Head Unit instead.

Heated Seats are very worth while; not on the official option list but can be ordered with option code PWO.

Apart from the above you've got it spot on.

PS> remember that the sunroof, if you get it, will loose 2" of headroom.

Agreed on the stereo.

You could do so much more with aftermarket stuff.

What about the full leather seat option. Is this still available as I'd go for that over the MFD3.

PS> remember that the sunroof, if you get it, will loose 2" of headroom.

didnt know that one! good job im not tall :D

I'm 6'1" and didn't have a problem with the seat right the way down, so I assume I'll be ok with the sunroof.

I've had a look at the aftermarket stuff that's equivelent, and I don't really like the look of it. Most of it looks a bit tacky, really (double DIN, with big screen). If you could show me some examples?

Exactly the spec I ordered except I also got the light assist package aswell (not my choice but it came with it as it was in group stock!) I also ordered the TDi version not the petrol (more grunt lower down)

I didn't realise that the headroom is reduced with the sunroof but I'm 6ft and I didn't notice a reduction (my seat is about half way up.) Agree with it letting more light into a dark cabin

Didn't bother with the MFD3 as it wasn't available at the time and plus it's too expensive at the moment. I will definitely get that though once I find one for a decent price on fleabay or something. Planning to fit a PS2 and tv tuner as well once that's in :D

I had a look around last night, and to get anything that's got the functionality of the MFD3, you'd have to pay pretty much the same price anyway!
