Recoding remote transmitter with VAG-COM

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a MK 1 Octavia (post-facelift). I'm trying to use VAG-COM to recode

1) The immobilizer - done!

2) The remote transmitter (yes, single for the time being, hence the procedure:rolleyes: )

As I currently only have one key, the method which doesn't involve VAG-COM won't work for me as I can't have one key in the ignition whilst the other is in the driver's door.

I've tried following the instructions on Ross Tech's website here, but I get stuck when it comes to reading adaptation channel 1 from the Cent. Conv. unit.

To begin with, it currently reads "1" which is unexpected as there are currently two remotes associated with this car. The next problem is that I can't change the value to anything else. If I try, the test reads back 1 no matter which number I've entered and then the test & save buttons get greyed out.

Have I missed something? Am I meant to log on to the module before changing anything?

Thanks,

Have you tried clearing all remotes prior to matching the new ones?

Whenever I do them I always go into channel 00 first and erase the old ones, then into channel 01 to register the new ones.

Many thanks to you and Sebastian. I'd mis-read the instructions about clearing all remotes as being that I should enter zero in the same channel as I will eventually put the new number in (i.e. channel 01) as is the procedure for learning imobilizer key fobs (channel 21 in that case) which I'd just finished!

I'll try setting channel 00 to 0 this lunchtime and report back!

Cool, looking forward to your test.

Do you not sleep? :D

Do you not sleep? :D

People ask that question quite often... the standard reply is "No, Theresias is actually the Ross-Tech answering machine designed for forums and mailing lists." :P

Dear Sebstian,

Thanks for making me read the instructions. It was a bit disconcerting to be told that all the settings in a module are being reset ... but the procedure worked!

Thank you again,

Mr W.

Glad to hear that you got it sorted. Nice to know that someone isn't after me as they now have 0 remotes working instead of 1.:)

sorry to drag this one up again, but I'm having a similar problem :(

Only have one remote key from my Fabia (2001, 1.4 16v) and the remote locking doesnt work. Central locking fine via internal buttons and barrel. Changed fob batteries for new.

Trying to recode the remote via vag-com following the guide on the ross-tech site (and various posts on here) but cant get it to program.

In CCM, Adaptation, programming 00 to channel 0 does not seem to reset the unit (number of keys stays the same, lock flash and beep settings etc remain). When entering new value in channel 1 for new keys, testing, saving and holding unlock button on remote, I get no response. After about 15 seconds, a fault code is logged saying 'incorrect key programming 35-00'

I have obtained a second key fob (correct part number and frequency etc) and replaced its batteries too. Exactly the same :(

Do I need to log in to the CCM? Softcoding seems to be right for the options the car has, according to ross-tech site.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

The procedure is:

46, 10, channel 00 (erase existing remotes), channel 01 (adapt the number of remotes present and follow the button pushing instructions).

I had one a while back where I could not get any to work at all with the 'incorrect key programming 35-00' error coming up.

A replacement convenience unit was the cure.
