HeadLight Washer System.

Featured Replies

HI all,

Mine is a 2006 Comfort Facelifted version. However i dont have the headlight washer system.

I did like to know a few things.

How does it works?

Does it works when you use the winscreen washer too? Meaning is there a separate button to choose the use of only one, or is it all link into the same button ie, the winscreen washer button.

It there an addition pump for the water?

If it is location on a separate button can anyone please take a pic of the location of the button? I want to install it in.

Also lastly will anyone be able to take a pic or video on when the headlight washer is activated how it look likes?

Thanks lots!

Well, at least I can say from my version 2005 that the HL washer is located under the chrome thingy just below the headlight and it pops out when using the windscreen washer more than 2 seconds with lights on so this function does not apply if you have not manually turned your Headlights into On-position.

Forgot to add that there is a common reservoir for both liquids ie. no separate tank for the HL washer.

When the washer is activated, is there any lighted bulb or indications? If not how do you know it is washing?

You know it's working as the lights dim for a second or two when they are covered in water and if you look closely you can see the shadow from the spray in the lights on the road. Also, you'll see a spray of water coming over the bonnet, especially if you're at motorway speed.

Generally they operate when the washers are used for the first time after switching the lights on and then perhaps every 5th or 6th wash therafter.

There is a scond pump fitted in the washer bottle so you need a new washer bottle 3B0 955 453 AG, the pump is 3B7 955 681.

There is also a level switch which may not be present on a non washer equiped car.

It's a big job, are you sure you want it that bad?

And surely you need the actual headlights with the washer nozzles etc, or are they there on a non equipped car and just not wired in?

was reading about the superb headlight washers here.....i agree its a nice thing to have..but one needs an elegance model to have them!! i only just wished i had that extra 1500 quid to buy one when i bought my facelifted comfort....and get sat nav and leather thrown in

Only the Xenon headlamps come with the Headlamp Washers fitted however we did produce some small numbers of Halogen Headlamps with Headlamp Washers fitted as requested by Skoda.....

The Halogen's have the same Powerwash Chrome Cap as the Xenon's but the Xenon's hide the Powerwash Telescopes whereas the Halogen Powerwash Chrome Cap hides a wire clip to hold it in place......cracking design if I do say so myself.....LOL!!!

Why is it a legal requirement to have headlamp washers with xenons?

I can understand that they must be self levelling, but not the washers. You'd think it was more important that non-xenons had them if they're not so bright?

Headlamp Wash is a legal requirement for use with Xenon's because the dirt can 're-direct' the light into oncoming traffic......as Xenon's are 3 times brighter and a Halogen source ensuring that the light is going where it is supposed to go is a must....

Thanks, that makes sense now you've explained it!

But there's no law to say you must use them!

I suppose they will introduce a check on them for xenon cars when they have an MOT in due course?

bro, u thinking of adding the washers too, after the xenon headlight unit?

i was thinkin' of the same thing too!

seems like a lot of hassle to get it fitted, wonder if it's worth the trouble. XZ should be able to get the parts for you.

cheers,

fluffy

The law states that if you have Xenon.....Headlamp Levelling and Wash is a legal requirement....

Fitment of the wash system wouldn't be that difficult.....we supply the wash system to Skoda and I have seen all the drawings but unless you have Xenon it's a little bit of a luxury although I had Headlamp Wash on my Bora as an option with the Winter pack on the Halogens........very useful at times....

I have looked into this and couldn't find anything so I guess we more than likely buy the parts from another supplier....I had all the drawings for the headlamps and washers and piping but couldn't find the electronic information....

I Also like to know is the washer nozzle activated by water pressure or by electric, when the nozzle is extended out.
